If I ruled the world: every man would be free, no one would go hungry or cold, everyone would be seen as equal, all greed and looking after number one would end.
If I had the title: I would become a good ambassador to the Somali community, I would use the title to change others peoples negative perception of our community. My personal goal is to be a role model for young women in this contemporary society, change the image of how traditional women should look , for example you don’t have to be 5’11 and a size four or six dress size to be beautiful. I believe beauty comes in different shapes and sizes. I would like to put forward that women can be moguls and entrepreneurs’. This is no longer a man’s world and we can do it all.
Being a Somali means: Many things to others means being…. Unstable, Angry, discouraged, Depressed & victims of post traumatic stress disorder Victims of war, social breakdown, loss of family. I want it to mean strong, powerful, survivors and fighters. I want to show the positive side of being Somali; our beautiful and colourful culture, Somali (music) artists they are the backbone of Somalia’s general politics and social justice. We are people with a rich history and I believe that we have the ability to create a bright future for the generations to come. I am proud to be Somali.
