The Official Miss Somali UK beauty pageant with Role Model Awards

About the first annual event:
We are proud to be hosting what we anticipate to be a successful event for years to come and predict that the night will be one to remember!  This event will be not be a standard beauty pageant, it will be an event to embrace the Somali community, its culture, tradition and talent. Bringing together a dynamic fusion of fashion, dance and music, The Official Miss Somali UK will celebrate the richness of this East African gem and capture the essence of the Somali culture and tradition throughout the night. 

This event has been put together by engaging  the Somali community and
 people from other communities; it will be attended by many people from all walks of life, friends of the Somali community, well-wishers, and people who share our values in promoting Role Models.  

OUR VISION: A changed perceived (negative) image of the Somali community, Promoting role models within the Somali community and Building bridges with other communities at the same time celebrating and recognising Somali talent.  

Date/Time: 7pm Friday 23rd October 2009
The Doors will open at 6pm to give the audience enough time to try and buy products from our sponsors, take professional photos which are available for print at a small cost. Doors will close 6:45pm

Entertainment: Take a seat, relax and let us entertain you.   
On the night we will be entertained by some of the hottest talent, up and coming artists from different industries; dancers, singers, poets, different backgrounds and different countries. A special line up of entertainment for everyone’s taste.  We promise you an experience of excitement from talent that has influenced all cultural entertainment across the world. e.g.  Bollywood dancers http://www.rakhisood.com/

1. Traditional wear, dirac, hido iyo dhaqan - Promoting Somali Traditional wear
2. Formal wear: Suit. Promoting Somali Business in women
3. Designed costume. TBC. (Where modesty is always in style)

 

 

 Awards on the night: 9 
1. Miss Somali UK 2009; winner, 2nd, 3rd Chosen by the Judges, there will be 5 judges from different backgrounds/status in society. Our chief judge; Andy Adulime is the owner and founder of Miss Tourism Global ® Organisation, he is the main organiser of Miss Ethiopia and Andy has worked with Miss Universe and Miss World therefore has the experience, resource, expertise and knowledge to help us put the evening together and make sure we select the right contestant for the CROWN.

Miss Somali UK; Miss Popularity.  Chosen by YOU, the Public. We will have a profile for each contestant on our website using the images taken at photoshoots.  VOTING WILL COMMENCE ON 1ST OCTOBER

There will be a winner in each of the categories above traditional, formal etc, and each category winner will receive a trophy.

Rewards and prizes 
There will be many prizes given away on the night, to both the contestants and the audience, including £500 Cash prize for our winner, goody bags for all contestants and prizes such as Spa and pamper-treat vouchers, for you to be won through a raffel, £0.20 per ticket, collection will go to a charity.

Dress code for audience: FORMAL OR TRADITIONAL wear; STRICTLY NO denim, NO trainers, NO sportswear, Minimum shoes, shirt and trousers for males. Wrong attire means refusal to enter.  

 

TICKETS £20: Limited. Address of venue is on tickets. Admission on the night is ONLY by advanced tickets. Tickets can be purchased throughout the UK. Can be shipped (extra cost). Ticket allocation is, the earlier you purchase a ticket, the closer to the stage. 70 seats available on second floor. A full name plus email address will be taken to purchase a ticket for further security.
